1月16日，總部位於美國紐約的非政府組織人權觀察（HRW）發表長達546頁的《2025世界人權報告》。這是人權觀察第35次發表年度人權報告，聚焦全球一百多個國家的人權狀況。「人權觀察」中國部副主任王松蓮表示，中共當局在整個2024年緊密壓制全中國的人權，從言論自由到宗教自由。王松蓮指出，中共當局「制定更嚴厲的侵犯人權法律，監禁批評者和維權人士，同時使全國各地對政府侵犯人權的報道變得難上加難」。
