In late 2017, while taking part in a charity event, participants - mostly private entrepreneurs and famous scholars – discussed the corruption problems of the Ministry of Public Security. In January 2018, Li and several staff from his company were taken away by the police. Li was first accused of “false litigation”. Until January 2019, Li was indicted for “false imprisonment, fraud, extortion and inciting subversion of state power”. At last, he was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and all his assets frozen in November 2020. Eight of Li’s employees were also sentenced to jail, ranging from 4 to 16 years. His wife Bao Yan said they would appeal.

2021年3月25日晚上，長期關注 #六四 和 #維權 消息的 #陳雲飛 在成都街頭陪母親散步時，被沒著警服的人員攔截，說是到派出所接受傳喚調查而帶走，之後與外界失去聯絡。當晚陳母回家後，來了一群人在家裡翻搜物品，翌日同一批人又來搜了一遍，也沒有說明理由和辦手續。據陳母分析，來「執法」的人員，從外表和行為方式判斷，主要是社區裡的保安和基層工作人員，估計是擔心即將來臨的清明節，陳雲飛又會做出讓他們難以掌控的新聞事件，而先把他拘留起來。

另外，2016年以「煽動顛覆國家政權罪」被判刑11年的異見作家、民運人士呂耿松，據報其親友於2021年4月10日去長湖監獄探望時發現他的身體狀況變差，穿著棉襖、三件加絨內衣、兩條加厚保暖褲和戴禦寒帽子，仍然怕風怕冷，家人怕他熬不過餘下刑期，幫其申請保外就醫遭拒。呂耿松刑期到2025年5月11日才屆滿。
自2017年8月在陝西省榆林市失蹤逾三年的維權律師高智晟至今生死未卜，家人無數次要求中國政府交代其下落，卻得不到回應。直到本月初，陝西榆林公安才首次承認高智晟在他們手裏，但也不允許外界見面及通話。對高智晟的打壓令其一家家破人亡，其姐不堪壓力去年跳河輕生，和兩名兒女流亡到美國的妻子耿和只能不斷去中國領事館示威，以求得一絲關於她丈夫的音訊。
中國政府動輒以國家安全之名打壓藝術家、作家、民主運動人士、律師甚至家屬，與在香港的劇本如出一轍。我們和國內的行動者面對同一政權的打壓，命運相連，必須共同抗爭，才可抵擋中共日益瘋狂侵犯人權，才可守護我們的自由。不論是在香港還是在國內的政治犯，我們都不能讓他們孤立無援。

On the previous day, Beijing human rights lawyer Wang Yu was taken away, which started the “709 crackdown” with over 300 individuals being detained or arrested. #HuaXiuzhen’s daughter #TanHua was a MBA graduate of Fudan University in Shanghai. She was bitten by a dog in 2014 and after being vaccinated with vaccine at Shanghai Yangpu District Central Hospital, she showed symptoms of dizziness, headache, convulsions and coma. But Shanghai Yangpu District Health Commission refused to acknowledge that Tan Hua's sudden illnesses were related to vaccination. Instead of offering help, the authorities sent personnel to stop Tan from seeking justice. In 2017, she suffered a nervous breakdown. Hua Xiuzhen accompanied her daughter to seek medical aid and launched petitions. She spent all her savings, over a million yuan on medical treatments. However, Tan Hua was still unable to work. Frustrated and feeling desperate, Tan has recently attempted to commit suicide by drinking some pesticide.
