Wang Dan hosted a "Democracy Salon" at the Triangle of Peking University, calling for class walkouts to continue. Over a thousand students attended. Wang said that some journalists were going to submit a petition to the Chinese Journalists' Association in the afternoon of May 9th, and they hoped to get the students' support . "Now that the journalists are in the fight, fellow students, do not stop."

“要广泛进行校园民主建设，如自治会的选举、确认，保留校园民主墙，绝不让它轻易失去。要继续对民众进行宣传，如进行普法，普及民主自由思想的基本常识。斗争尚在继续，同学尚需努力。” 全文阅读：https://bit.ly/3aspluK
At 7:30pm, a statement from the Beijing Students' Autonomous Federation was posted at the Triangle of Peking University: "We should carry out extensive campus democracy building, such as the election and confirmation of the autonomy council, and retention of the campus democracy wall, and never let it be easily lost. We should continue to raise awareness for the public, such as through educating the importance of law and the dissemination of basic knowledge in democratic and liberal ideas. The struggle continues and students still need to work hard."
